Road Closure Birling Gap Rd *UPDATE*

We have received the attached update from Southern Water on 4th June 2026

Since our previous communication, it has become clear that resolving the issue safely will take longer than initially anticipated. As a result, the road closure on Birling Gap Road will need to remain in place while tanker movements and on-site operations continue.

We understand that this extended disruption is frustrating, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience this will cause. However, maintaining a safe working environment for our teams and the public is our highest priority, and it is essential that we allow sufficient time to complete the works safely and thoroughly.

Our teams remain on site and are progressing the work as fast as possible. We will continue to review progress and will provide a further update as soon as we are able to confirm a more precise timeframe for reopening the road.
