Road Closure Birling Gap Rd

We have received the attached correspondence from Southern Water on 28th May 2026

I’m writing to inform you of a localised incident currently being managed at our East Dean wastewater treatment site on Birling Gap Road.

Our operational teams are on site and responding.  As part of the response, we are temporarily deploying tankers to maintain operations while we work to resolve the issue safely and efficiently.

Due to this activity, Birling Gap Road will need to be closed for the duration of the tanker movements. We are working closely with relevant partners to manage the closure and will aim to keep any disruption to a minimum.
