Wealden Bus update

East Dean will see seasonal improvements from 18 April to service 13X (Eastbourne-Beachy Head-Birling Gap-East Dean-Seven Sisters Park-Seaford-Newhaven-Peacehaven-Brighton).

Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding continues to support a range of fare reduction initiatives. Following the national fare cap increase from £2 to £3 after two years, East Sussex County Council took this opportunity to use BSIP funds to work with bus operators to deliver lower shorter distance single fares to complement the fare cap. Short hops are £1, with other journeys being £2 or £3.

Children’s fares are not subject to the £3 fare cap and start at 50p.

Also, up to four children are able to travel for 50p each with an adult (fare payer or concessionary pass holder), and there is a £1 off-peak fare for children.

The East Sussex Day Rider tickets continue to offer great value for money for those making several journeys and discounts are in place for those under 30.  More information on fares can be found here Fare Reductions | East Sussex County Council

Operators taking part in the £3, £2, £1 fares are Rye & District Community Transport, Bexhill Community Bus, Stagecoach, Brighton & Hove Buses, Compass Travel, Cuckmere Buses, North Wealden Community Transport and Community Transport for the Lewes Area (CTLA).  These fares may not apply to all operators’ services, so fares are best checked via operators’ websites, apps or on-board bus.
